House paint colors revealed!
I know it’s been far too long, but the house is painted and I wanted to show you how it turned out. I’ve been hoarding this post for a little while….I think I wanted to get used to the new colors before I posted them here for all to see.
I’ll just get right to it. When I last left you, I was chewing on my fingernails about our decision to go with a navy blue house and a bright blue front door. Before, the house looked like this:
Now it looks like THIS:
The pictures make it look pretty similar to the before, but it’s really super different. Before it was a wishy-washy gray that wasn’t committed to being a blue or a gray at all; now it’s definitely a statement navy blue.
(Also, please excuse the mangled bushes in front of the house. In a fit of rage energy, I went a little overboard with the trimmers. The bushes are 20+ years old and weren’t in good shape when we moved in, and, as you can see, I’m not much of a gardener. If you need someone to kill your bushes, you can just call me right up.😂)
Here’s a picture of the house in which you can really see the blue of the front door go POP:
So, what do you think??
I have to say, I adore the color! I’m glad The Hubster stuck to his guns. Although I was really nervous about taking the plunge to navy blue with brown trim, I think it actually works, especially combined with the color of the roof. The front door is still a little bit off from the blue I was envisioning, but it’s close enough that I can live with it. 😉 I think my favorite change was making the trim pieces and garage doors white. Something about the crisp white lines really appeals to me.
It was really fun when the painters were here. We’d leave in the morning to something looking like the photo below and return to see a huge transformation.
So now that the exterior is done, our gears are cranking on the front lights. It never ends! They’re currently black, but we don’t love them, especially now on the navy blue house. I think we’d like something that will stand out more a little against the house. And…of course, we’re not sure what else would look good. I think I might try taking them down and spray painting the black parts to test out colors before (if!) we buy new fixtures. I’m thinking silver or copper. Any votes or ideas? Leave it in the comments!
